Turning workplace feedback into action

A Google office micro-kitchen with tablet kiosks for employee feedback.

Google needed a faster way to understand what was happening across hundreds of office micro-kitchens. We built a network of tablet kiosks that lets employees report issues and share feedback in seconds.

Built and launched the first version in eight weeks.

/02

Deployed hundreds of tablets across Google offices.

/03

Collected thousands of feedback and operational data points within the first few days.

From a broken coffee machine to missing snacks, small problems can affect the everyday office experience. Google’s Facilities team needed a simple way to collect feedback across a large campus and route issues to the right people quickly.

A feedback system built into the workplace

We created a custom tablet application and deployed it across Google offices.

Employees can quickly report a problem, leave feedback, or respond to targeted surveys.

A reporting and routing system then sends each issue to the people responsible for resolving it.

Report an issue. Route it. Close the loop.

An employee uses the tablet in a micro-kitchen to report what they see.

The system categorizes and routes the feedback, while the Facilities team can communicate progress and run targeted surveys when they need more information.

Software and hardware working together

The experience needed to be simple enough to use in a few seconds and reliable enough to operate across a large fleet of physical devices.

We built, tested, deployed, and continue to support the application and underlying infrastructure.
