Making custom wedding dresses scalable

Anomalie wanted every bride to design a dress that felt uniquely hers. We built the system behind that experience, turning billions of possible combinations into a structured design and production process.

Silhouettes, sleeves, fabrics, colors, and finishing details create an enormous range of possible wedding dresses. Each choice also affects how the garment fits together and how it can be made.

Anomalie needed to give brides creative freedom while making customization consistent enough to support a growing business.

The logic behind every dress

We built a structured model of dress components and the relationships between them, connecting the customer’s design choices with the information needed for production.

That model powered an online dress builder where brides could start from scratch or personalize an existing design, with the system keeping each configuration valid.

Choose the silhouette. Make it yours.

Brides could combine design elements and see their dress take shape online.

Behind the interface, the configuration system organized those choices into a coherent design and mapped them to the details required to manufacture the finished garment.

Complexity, made repeatable

The underlying model gave Anomalie a structured inventory of possible designs and a foundation for search discovery.

We also introduced release practices, monitoring, logging, and design documentation, giving the internal engineering team the tools to take ownership and continue developing the product.

Two months to launch. Built to keep growing.

We launched the first version of Anomalie’s dress builder two months after joining, establishing the foundation for a repeatable customization process.

The app later went viral on TikTok. In May 2022, David’s Bridal acquired Anomalie’s team and technology assets to expand its digital bridal experience.
